The transformation of the Chicago riverfront has taken another step with the recent opening of a 54-story tower at 150 N. Riverside. It’s the second of three unrelated high-rise projects that’s changing the landscape of where the Chicago River forms a “Y.”
The 150 N. Riverside project has nearly 1.25 million square feet of rentable space, along with restaurants, a fitness center and conference center. It’s narrow base, as you can see from the picture above, also allows for most of the two-acre site to be used as a landscaped public park. It also has an ampitheater and pedestrian walkways overlooking the river.
The 150 N. Riverside project has already garnered rave reviews from architects, developers and city planners. One look at the picture above, published in Crain’s Business Chicago, begins to explain why. If you’d like to take a first-hand look at Chicago changing riverfront, a grand opening event will be held May 20 on the Riverwalk. It will feature art, music and entertainment.
150 N. Riverside follows the completion of the nearby River Point project. To follow is the Wolf Point project, which will have three towers including a 48-story apartment high-rise.
